Xiaomi flip phone resembling Z Flip

Xiaomi is preparing a foldable phone that resembles Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z Flip. IT media Android Authority reported in June that "Xiaomi has purchased'UTG (Ultra Thin Glass)' from Samsung Electronics." UTG is a material applied to the Z-flip 5G model and Fold 2, which was released in the first half of this year, and is characterized by less wrinkles when folded.

The media mentioned that Xiaomi had requested a ‘clamshell type’ panel from Samsung. Considering these points, it is considered similar to the in-folding foldable design that Xiaomi applied for a patent earlier this year.

Looking at the published patent image, the overall shape is not different from the Z-flip, and only the size of the external display seems to be different. Gizchina said, "Xiaomi is aiming to mass-produce foldables in the second half of 2020."

There are also rumors that Samsung Electronics is releasing an inexpensive version of a foldable phone. Pocket-lint predicted that "there is a high possibility that the foldable phone will be released in early March, two years after the fold model was released."

The media said, “The product will be named “Z Fold e” and “Z Fold Lite”. The factory price of the Fold 2, which was launched this year, is 2.39 million won, which means that it is about half cheaper.
