Really this time? LG Sangsomun phone to be released next March

It is news that the LG Sangsomun phone, Rollable, will be released in the first half of next year. Rollable is a design that can be used by expanding the display sideways, and it was nicknamed “Sangsomun Phone” because it is similar to the appearance of a “sangsomun” in the past.

As LG has filed several patents related to the rollable, it is highly likely that it will be unfolded in a different way. According to the IT media Android Authority, the rollable phone doesn't seem to be a direct pulling method, as imagined. The risk of damage is high due to the force applied to the display.

The display may have two motors at both ends, so when the user presses a button, the motor moves at a constant speed and the screen is unfolded.

Samsung also applied for a patent last year for an expandable phone that can expand the screen by pulling the display upward. In addition, as Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong revealed a picture of an expandable phone in his hand at the design strategy meeting, there was a theory that the release was imminent.

However, since there has not been any news related to production, it is likely to be released in the next year rather than next year.
