Appple iPhone
iPhone is a smartphone made by Apple that combines a computer, iPod, digital camera, and mobile phone in one device with a touch interface. The iPhone runs the iOS (OS) operating system and, according to Statista, 2.2 million apps are available through the Apple App Store as of 2017.
Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone to the public at the 2007 Macworld Conference in San Francisco on January 9, 2007. It was sold on June 29th of that year.
Apple sold 13 million iPhones in the first five quarters of the market. Since its launch in 2010, the number of iPhones sold has exceeded 70 million units. In 2011, Apple announced that it had sold 100 million iPhones. In the same year, Apple overtook Nokia as the mobile phone maker with the highest annual sales.

The first-generation iPhones were very thin (just 11.6mm thick), but they were wider and taller than similar devices. The display area was a 3.5 inch wide screen with a multi-touch interface and a very high resolution (160 pixels per inch). Unlike most other smartphones at the time, the iPhone didn't use a keyboard or stylus. Instead, users relied on multiple clicks and swipes to navigate iPhone OS 1.0, a portable version of the Apple OS X operating system for Mac computers. Like the iPod, the iPhone used Apple iTunes as the client software to sync data to the user's PC through a USB port.
This includes the first generation of iPhone networking features.
The device comes with 4GB or 8GB hard drive, 2MP rear camera and Intel CPU.
The first generation iPhone comes preloaded with several Apple software including iTunes, Safari web browser, and iPhoto. Email services IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) and POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3) integrated with the device.
Apple launched the iPhone under an exclusive two-year partnership with AT&T Wireless, but it took less than three months to unlock the device for hackers working around the world to use it on any GSM network.
iPhone 3G, 3GS
Apple released the 2nd generation iPhone and iPhone OS 2.0 on July 11, 2008. The new device was called iPhone 3G, and UMTS (World Service for Mobile Communications). And HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). Available in 8GB and 16GB models.
The iPhone OS 2.0 update includes several features designed for business use, including email support for Microsoft Exchange. Mobile security enhancements include secure access to the corporate network through Cisco's IPSec Virtual Private Network (VPN), remote wipe, and other management features.
Apple has also launched a dedicated software development kit (SDK) for apps, a central management utility configuration tool, and, most importantly, the App Store, a portal where iPhone users can purchase and download additional apps to run on their devices.
iPhone 3G replaced the first generation iPhone's aluminum flat shell with a sleek black or white convex plastic case. Switching to plastic allows you to better carry many wireless receivers inside the device.
iPhone 3G also has an Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) that combines triangulation with the use of a base station and GPS receiver. It didn't support Flash, Java or MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). Built-in Bluetooth supports wireless earbuds, but does not support stereo, laptop connection, or FTP (File Transfer Protocol).
Less than a year after the iPhone 3G was released, on June 19, 2009, Apple released the iPhone 3GS and iOS 3.0. The iPhone 3GS is available in 16GB and 32GB models and offers several hardware enhancements including a video camera, integrated compass, and faster download speeds supporting HSDPA 7.2Mbps.
The new version of the OS supported MMS, copy and paste functions, and the Find My Phone app. Additionally, the extended SDK allows developers to create in-app purchases, push notifications, and navigation from third-party apps.
